EF&Partners Art Consulting recognises the need for private collectors, companies and institutions to undertake the classification and inventory of Art Collections, Antiquities, Archeological and Historical Objects, in many cases for accounting or insurance purposes. The inventory of cultural and artistic works is not only needed for budgetary or planning purposes, but is also useful in allowing the tracking of a piece through its lifetime, to include information such as whether it has undergone any restoration work and where and when it has been stored, Etc.
EF&Partners Art Consulting provides an inventory complete with a detailed record of the piece, photographs of the piece and all relevant information placed into our database. In many cases, sorting and labelling the works of art is sometimes the only way to understand the unique artistic style of a particular historical period or location following the rules of ICOM - International Council of Museums.
Without this cataloguing, it is often near impossible to recognise which artist produced the work and at what time. We think of the inventory as an absolute necessity in this increasingly complex global market.
New technologies in databases, information sharing, the classification, registration, photography, documenting and asset management of pieces makes the creation and maintenance of an inventory a more specific and demanding exercise than ever before. Our inventory team is highly experienced and adept at dealing with a varied body of work. As well as applying their knowledge, techniques and methodologies to each individual piece, they also take into account the location, socio-cultural situation and market in which they operate, in an effort to protect this information for future generations.
